Before founding Communication Solutions, Iain completed a Diploma in Civil Engineering at the Pretoria Technikon (1992). From then, he furthered his studies at the University of Natal in the field of Survey and Mapping. Iain's working career began during 1996, as a network Sales AE for a national IBM reseller, where he installed the first ever PAV laser for Lee Jeans. Iain started Communication Solutions after identifying a gap in the fledgling wireless market in South Africa. Iain's role within the company is to manage and guide the overall direction of the business and to ensure that the Company continues its organic growth
Matie Strydom (Technical Director)
Matie qualified in 1981 with a National Diploma in Telecommunications. During his national service he worked as a technician on various telecommunications projects. From 1983 to 1994 he worked for Armscor, Infoplan and Denel Informatics on various wired and radio frequency networking projects. Since 1996 he specialized in wireless networking systems and has been active in the introduction of this technology to State and Parastatal communications organizations. Matie's role within the company is to manage all technical related issues as well as identify new leading edge products.
Darren started his Comsol career in 2002, after previous positions with Educor and Barclays Bank. Darren comes from a marketing background with a Commerce Degree and currently manages the national Comsol sales team. Darren has various wireless vendor certifications and has been involved in designing and building extensive wireless networks for our mission critical customers for several years.
Rico du Plessis (Technical Manager)
Rico joined Comsol in 2002 as a wireless technician, and soon became an invaluable technical resource. Rico has been involved with some of Africa's biggest wireless networks, and currently manages Comsol's largest, mission critical customer networks along with his national team of Technicians.
Rico currently carries five vendor certifications and has a wealth of experience in the wireless RF and GSM environments. Rico is also a qualified wireless technologies trainer.
Yvonne Burness (Ops Manager)
Yvonne started her career with Comsol in August 2005, after a successful 6 year career with TNT International Worldwide as the regional CSIR manager, where she was employed to head up our project management team. Yvonne is responsible for all day-to-day deployments and along with Rico manages the Comsol technical function.
